I've read many threads here about dynamic tags, but I am confused as to
what can and can't be done. It is essential that as many pages have
a unique description and keywords as possible. I do this on my nuke site
with a customised header include. It extracts key info from the module
(titles, descriptions etc) and inserts them as meta-tags. I have this
working in the Forums, News and Content areas.
Autotheme after installation has interfered with that functionality, I have
options to define descriptions and other tags per module, but none that
will use relevant page content. Google does not like the same description
for many pages. So this isn't an option for me.
I have read in here about head content extra, but (correct me if wrong), it
doesn't appear that I can do what I need to do. Even though I am using the
lite version, I am posting in this area because it's a question regarding
the full version functionality.
I attempted to call the code I use from within autotheme (edited
transitional html template, checked module name and tried to include the
appropriate php file) but it didn't work. I am assuming because autotheme
is called as a module to display the theme, that it somehow interferes with
variables passed to and within other modules?
What I can't understand is how my existing dynamic titles code still works,
but the keyword and description code doesn't. (both are seperate items of
code called separately however)
Am so close to deploying my new theme, but can't until I solve this. If it
can't be solved, I'll have to forget autotheme which would be a great shame
indeed as it offers so much extra functionality.
