OK, my husband set up phpnuke on our local server. Apparently the phpnuke
folder is not set up on the server as the "root directory" as defined by
all the instructions I've been reading. I think I finally have all the
autotheme lite files in the correct place. What I don't know is what file I
need to open to create the permissions, nor exactly where in said file I
would add them.
Please help (My husband is gone for a week on a business trip, and I would
really like to get this website up before then...>.<
As you can undoubtedly tell, I'm a complete newbie to anything to do with
website setup at this level. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |

If you're using an FTP program to upload AutoTheme files then there should
be a permissions setting or CHMOD setting in the FTP program. They are all
different, but right click on the file in your FTP program and see if you
have a permissions or CHMOD setting, or in one of the FTP prog menus.
If you're using a web based control panel of some sort to upload the files
then it should have a way to set permissions.

Maybe I'm missing something very basic here.... I am looking at the pvpnuke
files on our server via Windows Explorer. The file tree is set up
phpnuke/html, sql, upgrades. Under html areadmin, blocks, db, images,
includes, langauage, modules, and themes. Which folder would contain the
file that needs to be modified to include CHMOD permissions? And what file
would I look for? Is it under modules, AutoTheme? UNder compile? docs?
style? templates?
Hope this is making sense.
Thanks again

So the files are on a Windows computer that you have locally?
You shouldn't need to worry about permissions on Windows.
Is AutoTheme working?

No, the phpnuke installation is on our local Apache server. I can see the
file structure from my local computer, which runs Windows. However, I know
I do need to allow permissions since I am getting the "ERROR: autotheme.cfg
is not writable!" message when I try to select a theme. |

OK, and the Apache server is running what operating system? Windows,
Linux?
How do you browse to the files using Explorer?
Answer these and I probably have the answer. :-)

The Apache Server is running Linux. My husband set it up so that I can see
the folders/files on that server as a separate drive in my Windows
Explorer.
Thanks for your patience |

No problem. Unfortunately you won't be able to set the permissions from
Windows Explorer. You will need FTP or shell (ssh) access. Or if you can
physically login to the server that will work also.
