How does one go about converting an existing theme to an Autotheme?

I was going to write a how-to for this, but haven't had the time.

In a nutshell:

- Open in a browser a site running the theme you want to convert.
- Save as theme.html
- Open in favorite editor
- Strip out all unneeded stuff (text, content, links, meta tags)
- Cut the left, right and center block tables and paste them in their respective html files (leftblock.html, etc...)
- Do the same with the article table
- Add appropriate commands to all the HTML files
- Move all images to images/ and any css to style/ (or copy from the css and paste in style.css and styleNN.css)
- Modify any paths to images, etc.. in the HTML templates

It will take some work and experimenting, but if the theme is one that you like then after converting to AutoTheme it will be much easier to customize.
