Making good on my promise, I've started a "how to" on converting a monster
theme to AT 1.x. THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. I hope to have good community
support on this one and look forward to generating some business for those
of you out there that currently do this type of work. The finished document
will be released as VERSION 1.0.
All contributors to the document will be given the option to add their name
and information to be included on the document itself. That way anyone who
downloads and uses it has the option to contact a professional for work.

Since this is a work in progress, I need help with STEP THREE, NUMBER 6, if
anyone has a good suggestion, I will include it and continue!

I thought to myself, "self, it's about time you give back to this community
(postnuke) again...".

I'm still hacking away on converting a monster theme using AT Pro, - but
i'd be more than willing to review/contribute (time permitting!).
May be worth checking what Shawn's got planned for documentation with
1.7?

Any and all contibutions are very welcome! The docs I have working for .7
and 1.7 are user docs and then API docs. Hopefully the user docs will give
a good overview, step-by-step and some detail into certain elements of
AutoTheme, but won't be geared towards templates or any HTML help for that
matter.
Thanks!

ok, I've been away for about a week, so I haven't been able to update this
page. But, I would like to get some input from the community on the link
to the 'how to' so far. I have asked specific questions on the page and
would like some feedback on how to proceed.
Thanks! |

Is there anyone who is willing to take a look at the "how to" I've started
to work on and give me some feedback? specifically:

Shawn I know you are busy and all but when will these docs be out. I bought
Autotheme 1.0 and I haven't used it as I have no idea how to creat a theme.
Thanks

I would love to continue this project. I've noticed that this thread has
OVER 150 views on it. I would venture to say that this would be a 'hot
topic' for folks who use AutoTheme 1.0.
So, here's my question: Why isn't anyone willing to offer any help?
I'm not complaining, I would just like to have folks working on this
document that will help everyone in the community. I will continue to work
on the 'how to' but it would take alot less time if others could assist me
on some of the areas where I'm getting stuck.
You may post help to this post, or send email to: webmaster@project3e.com.
Again, thanks for your help!

O.K. as I am working on the code, I am willing to pay $100 via PayPal for
each of the following for AutoTheme 1.7 (each one is worth $100,
so $300 total):
1. AutoTheme USER documentation (installation, configuration, usage, create
theme, etc.) including step-by-step newbie instructions.
2. Step-by-step tutorial on creating a new theme from scratch and
converting an old-style theme to AutoTheme (preferably by loading old theme
in browser and saving, modifying and tweaking)
3. Step-by-step tutorial on converting a PhotoShop template like the ones
for sale here, into a good usable AutoTheme.
- Also, $50 for AT-Lite .7 USER documentation (installation,
configuration, usage, create theme, etc.) including step-by-step newbie
instructions.
Needs to be in MS Word or RTF (other editable formats may be fine if the
documentation is good enough). Black and white with simple style and
should include good screenshots and stuff). Also, must be English. I have
volunteers to translate into other langs.
I am fairly picky, so I will say up front: don't expect that just because
you create one that I'll accept it (if I don't like it then I won't pay,
but I won't use it either). I will however pay for a detailed professional
product.
Any takers???
Thanks!
-Shawn

This is a great idea Shawn! I would do better to help make the User
Documentation as I can document step-by-step installations, configurations,
screenshots, etc. I could make html, doc, pdf of finished products.
The "how to" I've started here would then be taken over (or replaced) by
someone else to continue and finish on your terms.
Could you provide an outline to me? |

Shawn, I too am willing am to help. In fact, with your support and
guidance, I'll write the documentation at no cost - soup to nuts - in
exchange for your time and guidance on AT end-to-end.

Hmmm. I might be game. I've translated many Monster Template themes from
scratch to AT 1.7
Example: http://www.microstuffx.com/index.php
Its actaully a pretty easy process, shouldn't be to hard to document, and
considering I'm a newbie it would be written from a newbies stand point.

Hows this thread going??? I've looked at project3e's site and the template
hasn't change much I think its still the default from Monster template.
I feel Autotheme has huge potential especially if the PostNuke community
ever get to develop the nx release. One thing that would be necessary I
find as newbie is clear documentation from install to creating a simple
and advanced theme that is integrated with flash and RSS feeds. I feel for
the newbie users who pay for something and then find that current
documentation is a little dry, the only option is to email Shawn or post on
the board. Whom will readily hawn will help but if there were detailed docs
I think life would be a lot easier. C'mon Autotheme cmnty lets get this
done.
I know we all work and stuff but I think its a requirement for Autotheme.
If anyone wants to review or validate their work on documentation let me
know at hanif at muslimprofessionals.org.uk
And I thought I was good at PHP ..sigh.

As always, all contributions are appreciated, but just to let you know,
professional docs are in the works for the final release of AutoTheme 1.7.
These docs, with minor exceptions will be applicable to Lite .7 as well.
Thanks!

Well - I've had one reply to my personal email on how to slice up images so
far. I guess since I'm still at the snag mentioned in my previous threads,
I'll just wait for the professional docs to be completed and see how they
work.
HOWEVER, I'm still game to finish what I started if someone shows me how...

Im think I can help on translations from english to spanish. If this
document ever get done count me in.
I have no idea of how autotheme works, I will buy a personal license to try
it, and document all the steps.

so I wanted to make sure that the users asking for them were notified.

Thanks!
